Summary: Flixel is a personalized movie discovery app. We collect only the data necessary to provide core features like accounts, watchlists, comments, recommendations, and notifications.
Welcome to Flixel (“we”, “us”, or “our”). Flixel lets you browse movies, watch trailers, manage a watchlist, leave comments, and receive updates. Your privacy matters to us, and this policy explains how we handle your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information You Provide
- Authentication & Profile: User ID, name, email, and optional avatar stored via Firebase Authentication and Firestore.
- User Preferences: Favorite genres, notification settings, and profile details.
- Watchlist & Comments: Movies you save and any comments or ratings you submit.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Analytics & Diagnostics: Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics collect anonymized usage data and crash logs.
- Push Notifications: Device push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging), only if you opt in.
- Location (Optional): Coarse location (city/region) for nearby cinema showtimes, if enabled.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate and manage your account
- Sync watchlists, preferences, and comments
- Deliver personalized recommendations
- Send notifications you opt into
- Improve app stability and performance
3. Information Sharing
- Service Providers: Google Firebase services and TMDb API.
- Legal Compliance: When required by law or to protect rights and safety.
- Aggregated Data: Non-identifiable data for insights and improvements.

- Delete your account from Profile → Settings
- Opt out of notifications and analytics
- Revoke location permissions anytime
- Request access or correction of your data
5. Data Retention
Data is retained while your account is active. Upon deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days, except for anonymized system logs.

We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted storage, HTTPS/TLS, and Firebase security rules.
7. Children’s Privacy
Flixel is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy as Flixel evolves. Updates will be posted with a revised effective date.
